Welcome to the Fiber Fellas
The Fiber Fellas are a welcoming, creative community built around connection, conversation, and the joy of making. While we encourage and uplift men in the textile arts, we gladly welcome people of all genders who want to learn, create, and be part of a supportive space. Our group reflects the diversity of Houston, bringing together makers from different backgrounds, identities, experiences, and skill levels. Everyone has a place here.
We gather each week to share projects, exchange ideas, learn from one another, and enjoy the camaraderie that naturally forms when people create side by side. Many of our members are introverts, so our meetups are designed to feel comfortable whether you love to chat or prefer quiet creativity among friends. Whether you are brand new to crafting or have years of experience, you’ll find a warm seat, open conversation when you want it, and a community that grows stronger with every person who joins.
Members of the Fiber Fellas also enjoy unique opportunities throughout the year. This includes early access to our trunk shows, where donated yarn is available for purchase before the public; invitations to Fiber Fellas–only events and creative meetups; and first access to volunteer opportunities that support our outreach programs across Houston. As we expand future textile support groups and well-being initiatives, Fiber Fellas members will be among the first welcomed into these spaces.
Fiber Fellas is a community off-shoot that grew naturally from the mission of the Men’s Textile Collective. While the group reflects the heart of MTC’s work, it operates independently and does not use any nonprofit funds for its gatherings or events. Fiber Fellas exists as a community formed by the people who show up — a natural extension of belonging, created by the makers themselves.
We are also working to expand the Fiber Fellas community beyond the Cypress area. Houston is large and diverse, and we recognize that travel can be a barrier for many who want to join us. We hope to establish new Fiber Fellas meetups in Katy and its surrounding communities, as well as throughout South Houston from Montrose to League City. To make this possible, we are actively seeking local businesses and community spaces willing to partner with us and provide a welcoming home for new groups. If you are interested in helping us grow, we encourage you to reach out and explore the possibilities. At this time, we are able to serve the greater Houston Metro Area and look forward to connecting with more neighborhoods as we expand.
